Woodpecker Class
Class teacher: Mrs Basharat
Classroom Learning Support Assistant: Mrs Woodruff
At the end of our topic we held an Exhibition to share our work with our families. We displayed our information pages.
As part of our home learning, we made our own scaled down Titanic. We tried hard to replicate the style and colour as well as using materials that would help the ship to float.
Science
We went on a treasure hunt around our school grounds to find different objects. We decided to group them according to things that are living, things that are dead and things that have never lived.
Titanic Hook
Today, we experienced what life was like for different passengers aboard the HMS Titanic in 1912. We found out about the class system in 1912 through role play and watching videos. We learned how passengers were treated and looked after according to their class and ticket type.
Our Trip to the Sea City Museum
As part of maths learning, the children used 3D shapes to build. They used shapes according to their properties, for example, they used shapes with flat faces for the foundation to have strong base.
As part of our DT learning, we were able to taste various flavours of couscous salads. Lots of us tried new things and we spoke about what we enjoyed and what we weren't so keen on.
Then we designed our salad based on the healthy eating-well balanced plate. We made our salads with our favourite couscous flavour and included one thing from each food group (protein, carbohydrate, dairy, fats).
We recapped our Science learning about healthy eating and the portion of each food group we should eat daily.

RE - We have been learning about Advent and have made Advent wreaths
Maths Learning - We have been problem solving using a variety of resources
Finger Puppets - In DT we have been learning about different ways to join, staples, glue, by sewing or using tape.
