Spring B
To begin the second half of the Spring term, the children went on a school trip to the Seacity museum. This links to our topic in English and History this half term about the Titanic. The children enjoyed engaging in different activities as well as looking around the museum at the different artefacts and learning lots of new information.
Spring A
For our new topic 'Pirates' the children enjoyed dressing up as pirates, taking part and watching the theatre performance 'Jolly Roger and the Pirates'.
In Computing, the children have enjoyed using the beetbots, inputting different algorithms to make them travel. They loved using the new beebot world map to incorporate their Geography knowledge too.
This half term in RE we have started learning about Hinduism and the festival 'Holi'. We listened to the story of Lord Vishnu and Prahlad and then acted out some different parts of the story.
Autumn B
In Computing, the children have been using Purple Mash to practise their touch typing skills to support them in writing sentences for their word processing topic.
In Art, the children have thoroughly enjoyed using their sketching techniques such as cross hatch, zigzag lines, side of pencil, herringbone pattern and wavy horizontal lines to create their own dragon illustrations. There are certainly some fabulous artists in Kingfisher class!
The children enjoyed taking part in the Skipping Workshop. They practised skipping forwards and backwards, how to spin the rope around their arm and their balancing skills on one leg while jumping over the rope. They also enjoyed running into a large jump rope and being given challenges while jumping, such as star jump, tuck jump and turn without getting caught in the rope!
This half term in English we have been basing our learning around Dragons. We had a dragon appear in our classroom who had lost its family! The children named him Red-Roary and he stayed with us while we created a magical potion to help him gain strength to fly back to his home. We then wrote some instructions for how to make the potion incase he ever needs it again!
Autumn A
Our topic this half term has been The Great Fire of London. The children have enjoyed learning about the event that happened in the past in History. In English, the children then wrote their own story about an animal who experienced the great fire. In D&T, the children enjoyed designing and creating a hand puppet to match the character in their story - they all did a wonderful job!
In Computing we have been exploring using the Paint programme to create our own Mondrian art. We have been using different tools such as brushes, fill, shape and lines.
