Space Exploration
Our theme this term is Space. In Owl Classroom, we explored space and the features of space. Whilst in the space room, we read the story Whatever Next by Jilly Murphy which will be our focused text in English. Afterwards, the children had very interesting conversations about space which led to us watching Chris Hadfield's video in the International Space Station.
Elf Pictures
Another one of our extra art activities was we followed instructions on a video which showed us how to draw an elf. The children loved pointing out the similarities and differences in their pictures and followed the instructions very well.
Christmas Art
One of our extra art activities was we followed instructions on a YouTube video showing us how to make a Christmas tree out of oil pastels. The children loved airbrushing and blending the colours. It was nice to see the children recall their key vocabulary of art.
Troll Wanted Posters
In English, the children were learning about The Three Billy Goats Gruff. After learning about what the troll looked like and some of the horrible things he had done, they made WANTED posters in an effort to find the troll. After designing their posters, they launched an appeal to find the troll by visiting Year 2 and reading out their posters.
If you see him, please don't hesitate to inform Mr Train of his whereabouts.
You Choose
After reading the book 'You Choose' by Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodhart we enjoyed looking at all the amazing illustrations and talking about the different choices we would make. We then drew our own pictures and wrote what we would choose.
Materials
As part of our science unit, we have been learning about the properties of different materials. Here the children had to make houses for the Three Little Pigs and decide which properties would be best suited against the Big Bad Wolf.
