Library Day: Fridays
This half term we are learning how to use ScratchJr on the iPads. In our first lesson we learnt how to change the background and how to add a new character.
In Art this half term, we have combined many new skills to create beautiful collage pictures. We began with practising our colour wash skills, which we were introduced to in the Autumn term. We then had to draw a sea creature and created a print with it by using a polystyrene tile and printing ink. Finally, we cut out our print and added it to our colour wash and used different collage materials to create an underwater picture.
In PE this half term, we have been working on ball skills. We have practised throwing underarm and have learnt to do a chest pass with a partner.
In English, we are working with the story "Whatever Next". We learnt about different question words and how to write questions. We then wrote 3 questions that we would like to ask Baby Bear, who is the main character in the story. We then role - played being Baby Bear and had a go at answering our partners questions.
In Gymnastics this term, we are using the apparatus. We have been thinking about travelling in different ways and have learnt how to jump carefully off the apparatus.
In Computing we have been learning how to use laptops. We have learnt how to turn them on and off correctly and how to log on to Purple Mash. In Purple Mash we have been using 2paint to create pictures in different styles. This half-term we will be learning how to use Microsoft Paint.
We have been investigating different materials and their properties. We explored our classroom and brainstormed all the materials things were made from. We discussed their properties. We have explored which materials would be best for a particular purpose. So far we have investigated materials to make a parachute and a raft. Next we will be investigating which material would be best to build a house! The children have been very engaged with these investigations and have blown us away with their knowledge and ideas!
