Outdoor learning

What fabulous weather we have had for our first two outdoor learning session this half term!

The sun has been shining for us and we have enjoyed exploring the area including making pies, soups and cakes in the mud kitchen; building dens; sitting in the reading shed; guiding each other around the obstacle course; climbing trees and today we foraged for different natural resources to make a portrait with a partner.

Chinese New Year

We started the week off with a fantastic music and dance workshop where found out about China and its traditions. We listened to the story of Chinese New Year and learnt a dance about the lion. At the end we used fans, parasols and a very long dragon to parade around the hall and then tried on the dragon and lion head pieces.

Throughout the week we found out where China is, did lots of craft and tasted some traditional Chinese meal ingredients.

It was a great week!

The Gingerbread Man

"Run, run, as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

Have you seen the Gingerbread Man?
He sent us a letter to say he'd been exploring the school. Using his clues, we went on a hunt to try and find him. We weren't quick enough to catch him but he did leave us some of his friends to eat!

Our first week at school

We have had a lovely start to school by exploring the indoor and outdoor areas.

There are many different types of ways we can develop our learning including being physical on the roundabouts and walking with big feet; colouring and creating pictures; using small world dolls, dinosaurs and sea creatures in the water and practising making a cup of tea in the home corner.

We have really enjoyed ourselves and settled well!
