We change our library books on a Tuesday. Children are able to choose a book to bring home and share with you. Please return the book by the following Monday.
PE is on a Tuesday. Please ensure long hair is tied back and earrings are removed or taped over before school. Children need to wear shorts under their tracksuit bottoms for gymnastics this term.
We have been enjoying the better weather and looking at stories that show growth and change. From the nursery rhyme of Mary Mary Quite Contrary to the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk and The Enormous Turnip. We have planted seeds, counted leaves and petals, added music to the stories and written lots about them. We have been creative, experimenting with making puppets during our Pinocchio topic and learnt the new skill of printing during our story of Handa's surprise.
The children have grown in confidence and are now tackling tasks with more independence and resilience. The introduction of star challenges has added an extra motivation and the children are really keen to collect as many stamps as they can for their independent learning - Well done Butterfly Class.
From Goldilocks, to The Three Little Pigs, Percy the Park Keeper and Owl Babies, we have been busy looking at different stories and thinking about what we can learn from their morals and ideas. We have enjoyed drawing tutorials, started using different paints and pastels and even created some whole-class collage work based on these stories.
We have been so impressed with the amount of children who can now read all their key words and many children can write a good amount of these aswell - keep up the good work Butterfly class.
We have also enjoyed the better weather with our outdoor learning, we have noticed the leaves starting to grow on the trees and the huge amounts of birds that keep flying above us.
We have emersed ourselves in different traditional tales, nursery rhymes and celebrations. We have enjoyed creating artwork from these tales, acted out the narratives, sampled traditional foods, drawn pictures and even thought about different scientific concepts e.g. which material would make the best blanket for the bear's bed?
Our writing has really improved as we are confidently using our sounds to write words, captions and even some full sentences.
We have been working hard on our 'tree to a better me' and looking at ways we can show kindness to others - we are great at this!
Here are a few photos to show you what we have been up to.
We read the story of Cinderella and then planned for our own ball for the end of the week. We painted crowns, wrote invitations to our favourite toys, wrote lists for the party and coloured in carriages on Purple Mash.
We wrote down a list of items that might be in a soldier's bag, learnt to crawl like a commando, drew and collaged poppies for remembrance and painted firework pictures.
The children had a wonderful time in the snow last week even though it was brief!
