Heron Class

What have we been learning this week?

Week Commencing Monday 2nd March 2026

This week, we have been celebrating Reading Week. Our focus book was "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" and we have been exploring oats, talking about the words small, medium and large, and discussing whether we think it was right for Goldilocks to go into the bear's house. We were lucky enough to have an author visit the school, and we listened to her book "Gus and the Grumble", we then drew the animal characters. On Thursday it was lovely to see you all dressed up in your favourite characters and we shared our costumes with the group. We also took full advantage of the sun and took our art lesson outside this week. We were using paint to design the front cover of a book.

How can I help?

We have been feeling some big feelings in Heron class this week. We have made some communication boards, called our "Something's Wrong" book, to help us explore these feelings and why we are feeling them. I will send the communication boards via Google Classroom if you want to start using these at home.

Shared Learning and Art Sale - 2nd March 2026

We have been getting ready for our art sale on the 2nd March by making clay coasters with patterns on. Some of us have even drawn our class animal, the Heron!

Important days in our week:

Tuesday: Reading books sent in to be changed

Wednesday: New reading books sent home

Thursday PM: Outdoor Learning

Friday: Library books to be changed

Heron Class - Resourced Provision for Children with Autism.

Our Resourced Provision for children with Autism opened in September 2025. Children’s places are funded by Hampshire Educational Authority and spaces are allocated through County systems.

Our Resourced Provision consists of a main classroom and an enclosed outside play area. Both the classroom and garden have a range of features and resources to support sensory and regulation needs.

We follow the National Curriculum, adapted to meet children’s developing academic needs. Children in the Resourced Provision are expected to join some lessons in a mainstream class. This helps children develop their social, communication and academic skills. This offer can vary for individuals and is flexible, based on their individual needs and skills.

If you wish to find more information about the school’s Resourced Provision, please contact the School Office on 01252 613582.

Please note that whilst we are happy to show you around the Resourced Provision, it is the Local Authority that offers children a place and not the school.
